the problem is, dimebag just brainlessly makes noises with the guitar. its not bad but its kind of lame sometimes check out the song 'becoming', the first time you hear the solo your like 'cool' the next time your like this sucks. dimebag covers up his subpar guitaring with a shitload of distortion and whammy bar. chuck is more original and has more control over what he plays.

Both had their own styles that set them apart from the general metal crowd. Schuldiner's solos were highly emotional, with quick speed changes and characterized by his extremely fast and accurate alternate picking, which is why his solos sound so damn sharp and unique. He almost never sweep-picked, thus he could play a lot more different notes. Dimebag used a lot of unusual noises and unique playing styles, but as far as technique and precision is concerned, Chuck beats him.

you can compare them. its like comparing death and thrash. hard but possible. i say chuck is better because he was original with more melody and possibly technique. dimebag just grinds on his distortion.

Dimebag had a totally different aproach to his music, you can't compare them with eachother. It's like comparing songs like "spiritual healing" with "the art of shredding" ... totally different, but both kickass songs in my opinion. If you insist on comparing them, i call it a draw

dimebag is nothing compared to chuck. dimebag is only superior to chuck in the sense that he used more distortion and played clean. Chuck is superior to dimebag in EVERY other way
