Virginia Zeani (born Virginia Zehan, October 21, 1925, in Transylvania, Romania) is a former operatic soprano whose career spanned the 1950s and 1960s. Her career was focused in Italy, where she sang in every major opera house and with tenors such as Beniamino Gigli, Ferruccio Tagliavini, Luciano Pavarotti, and Plácido Domingo. She made few commercial recordings, but a number of her live performances exist as bootleg recordings.

I think some license should be given, re the swooping......it's all about the emotion. Still the best, for me, in this aria. __________________________________________________

That affectation drives me crazy, heartfelt or not. Otherwise, superb! __________________________________________________

Great voice, squillante, if she hadn't been Romanian, I would have guessed she being Italian. The diction, the color, la voce. Superb! __________________________________________________
