"O Mio Babbino Caro" "Gianni Schicchi" Giacomo Puccini Virginia Zeani; Orchestra Dell'Accademia Di Santa Cecilia; Franco Patane, conductor. Virginia Zeani (born Virginia Zehan, October 21, 1925, in Transylvania, Romania) is a former operatic soprano whose career spanned the 1950s and 1960s. Her career was focused in Italy, where she sang in every major opera house and with tenors such as Beniamino Gigli, Ferruccio Tagliavini, Luciano Pavarotti, and Plácido Domingo. She made few commercial recordings, but a number of her live performances exist as bootleg recordings.

I think some license should be given, re the swooping......it's all about the emotion. Still the best, for me, in this aria. __________________________________________________

Great voice, squillante, if she hadn't been Romanian, I would have guessed she being Italian. The diction, the color, la voce. Superb! __________________________________________________

I was moved and captured by the characters & most esp. of the plot. It's not cheessy, very real in terms of its conflict and definitely worth promoting to my tearjerkers friends. I'll grab a DVD... it must have. Maybe it wasn't fully marketed but hope it'll do good in terms of longitivity. thanks for uploading. __________________________________________________
