payrollz1234 ::: Favorites 2007-12-26 08:50:10 Without the conductor, the musicians are free to interpret as they please, and the piece is not together. So tell me, can the orchestra simply do without anyone standing on the podium? __________________________________________________
payrollz1234 ::: Favorites 2007-12-26 08:49:53 "the tempo has nothing to do with his conducting"- ermeo356 An interesting take on how the orchesrta works... please correct me if I'm wrong, but, in band, I do believe that we were taught that the conductor is the one who sets tempo, via a baton. The conductor shows the musicians how he/she wishes the piece to sound through expression of face, and conducting gestures. __________________________________________________
Elaniago ::: Favorites 2007-12-21 11:50:57 Surely they gained their fame from being great at what they do? __________________________________________________
car2052 ::: Favorites 2007-12-20 23:16:08 Does this conductor have a version of Bach's Mass in B Minor? __________________________________________________
car2052 ::: Favorites 2007-12-20 23:14:35 This is an excellent interpretation of the Magnificat. The slower tempo really makes the piece sound more majestic. It makes it easier on the trumpets also, a win-win situation. __________________________________________________
ermeo356 ::: Favorites 2007-12-13 20:54:32 Funny thing! he tempo has nothing to do with his conducting. Only with his fame. Like most famous conductors, Harnoncourt, Leonardt, Brugge and Herrewege (my God who can play with this nitwit) it is most about their fame ( and the money you can make with them). There are plenty more good conductors. Burn all cd's!!!!!!!!! __________________________________________________
abnerwagner ::: Favorites 2007-12-13 12:48:03 The orchestra explote like fireworks in the Feast of the Lord. And, when you don´t expect, you hear some voices arising from nothing, praying Him with contagius joyness and jubilee. __________________________________________________

301250 ::: Favorites 2007-11-12 09:58:38 Harnoncourt's prfm. of Bach's glorious, glorious Magnificat ranks alongside those done by Rilling,Corboz,Gardiner,Hickok in my opinion. sdgoh (malaysia) __________________________________________________

onionpizza ::: Favorites 2007-10-03 15:48:00 AWESOME! This is a true rendition of the Magnificat: powerful and exhuberant. Unlike the decaffeinated versions that are fashionable today. Good old Johann Sebastian would have been in tears! If only he had had the means available to Nik Harnoncourt! Excellent tempo. It gives the brain time to digest and enjoy the incredible richness of this movement. Excellent blend between orchestra and choir. __________________________________________________ |
