Description: Just because I imagine it for the world doesn't mean it has to be all good. Song:Fucking For the Masses by Cody Weber [you can edit the sound out] Most pictures taken by the still image function of my Panasonic Diga palmcorder I imagine: -a world where we'll build bridges we may not see a need for, but we will benefit from them -racial harmony...finally -peace, eventually -we'll abandon traditional communal activities like campfires in favour of internet chat rooms -a rebirth of nature -that the world will be dangerous, but eventually, we'll stop caring about the danger -we will abandon the old -we'll pretend to be more accessible, but be more constricting (the barricades were in front of the Handicap Access Trail) -we'll segregate ourselves from nature, for better or worse -religion will die -clever yet funny will replace intelligent -what we think of as facts will no longer be factual -liberty will be abused by our rulers -gender equality will become universal...possibly by force, but hopefully not -we'll cut down on consumption and become more creative (this was a bumper sticker, but I wasn't about to take pictures of it, for obvious reasons) |

rowsdowersavesus ::: Favorites 2007-12-06 13:15:49 With the "facts" one, I was thinking of dumbing down. People already have many "truths" that they hold dear that are lies. With the advent of easily abused resources like wikipedia, that will become ubiquitous, I think. __________________________________________________
rowsdowersavesus ::: Favorites 2007-12-06 13:14:00 I know. I was lucky to find it. __________________________________________________
StevenErnest ::: Favorites 2007-12-06 11:34:29 The video was interesting! But I disagree with some of your sidebar thoughts: "what we think of as facts will no longer be factual", if you mean the subjectivism of PoMo theory I agree, otherwise this is nonsensical. "liberty will be abused by our rulers", that's true now, but I hope not in the future! Imagine NO rulers! "-gender equality will become universal...possibly by force, but hopefully not" We're already moving in this direction, but shouldn't be using force. __________________________________________________
StevenErnest ::: Favorites 2007-12-06 11:26:54 I, too, think humanity will evolve into that direction, cosmic beings. Not for a long time. They call this, the Transhuman. We may essentially become "God" or gods. Perhaps merge with other intelligences in the universe. __________________________________________________
Cupit29 ::: Favorites 2007-12-04 12:30:44 I liked photo of the ruined tape cassete. Very symbolic, I thought. __________________________________________________
DeimosSaturn ::: Favorites 2007-11-21 20:51:22 We can model it in computers just like with the weather. There is some degree of inaccuracy with a lack of complete data and as the projections go farther into the future, but they are very reliable. __________________________________________________
hovindlover ::: Favorites 2007-11-19 03:35:40 Given that humanity is the first species we know of that has developed any of these (we have 1, at least) and given that we'd be dead after extinction, there's really no way to test this hypothesis. __________________________________________________
DeimosSaturn ::: Favorites 2007-11-16 19:16:35 It has been a long time. My hypothesis is is that shortly after a species develops one of the three following technology, they go extinct: 1) Thermo Nuclear weapons 2) Nanomachine weapons 3) Global dependence on a digital government __________________________________________________
thequestionmarkofGod ::: Favorites 2007-11-14 20:29:27 No body no limits! Imagine feeling the inside of a rock? An animal? a tree? the wind? the water? Consciousness able to move and experience at will, IMAGINE. Just let your mind outside what you are used to a little, wander and dream. __________________________________________________
rowsdowersavesus ::: Favorites 2007-11-14 19:30:17 Would it really be positive, though? Bodies bring us pleasure, and are beautiful in their own right __________________________________________________
thequestionmarkofGod ::: Favorites 2007-11-14 17:36:27 Millions more years of evolution and scientific discovery I absolutely think it could. Like I said, we will never know, but it is my beautiful dream for the future, so close your eyes and imagine with me, how beautiful it would be. Its a dream Ben, a dream. A very nice dream. __________________________________________________
rowsdowersavesus ::: Favorites 2007-11-14 17:33:14 how can that happen? __________________________________________________
thequestionmarkofGod ::: Favorites 2007-11-14 17:13:34 We won't be human anymore. I dream of a future where we are physically light, in control of our atomic structure, free of set form. We may still be evil, but we will be beautiful. __________________________________________________
luckyvet ::: Favorites 2007-11-14 14:38:37 Um...ok. If you say so. __________________________________________________
